During Congress hearing with key testimony by ILLARIONOV A DEFIANT INSIDER CRITIC OF PUTIN KGB CORPORATE STATE as EX-CHIEF ECONOMIC ADVISER TO KREMLIN 2001 – 2005, along with Legvold – Columbia univ prof, and Pfifer US ex embassodor to Ukraine all giving their testimonies on panel ‘From Competition to Collaboration: Strengthening the U.S.-Russia Relationship’ chaired by Howard L. Berman (D-CA). http://www.xmail.net/technologos/APUT.html In Illarionov eyes today’s Russia is not a democratic country. One of the most important characteristics of the current political regime in Russia is that the real political power in the country belongs to the corporation of secret police operatives

In his written testimony : Policy of the proclaimed “cooperation”, “movement from competition to collaboration”, “improvement of relations” with the
current political regime in Russia has very clear consequences. Such type of behavior on the part of the US administration can
not be called even a retreat. It is not even an appeasement
policy that is so well known to all of us by another Munich decision in 1938. It is a surrender. It is a full, absolute and unconditional surrender to the regime of the secret police officers, chekists and Mafiosi bandits in today’s Russia. It is a surrender of the hopes and
efforts of the Russian democrats as well as peoples of the post-Soviet states who dreamed to get out of the system that controlled and tortured them for almost a century– back to the Chekists’ power.

Collaboration between two governments today could be only on the
Russian regime’s terms and for fulfillment of the Russian government’s goals. From the European history of the XX century we know what means if a revisionist power has a clear-cut goal to restore influence and control over its neighbors while other powers chose not to defend
victims of the attacks, but instead try to collaborate with an
aggressor. We know the consequences of the collaborationist policy –those who retreat andsurrender will get not peace, but war, war with unpredictable and nasty results. It might be also not a one war.
When the world will get there, we need to remember that we had a
warning.

ANNA POLITKOVSKAYA MURDER TRIAL FIASCO as http://www.xmail.net/technologos/Anna1.html the accused acquittal highlights the difficulties prosecutors have faced in persuading jurors in high-profile criminal trials. Politkovskaya’s family and colleagues questioned the soundness of the case prosecutors built against Khadzhikurbanov and the Makhmudov brothers over the course of the investigation and trial and investigation was was done ineffectively as Anna Politkovskaya’s colleagues at Novaya Gazeta admit that the case against the three accused men was weak, based primarily on the testimony of one man, Dmitry Pavliuchenkov, a former colonel in an elite police surveillance unit who testified that Khajikurbanov tried to recruit him to put Politkovskaya under surveillance in late Sept 2006 but his testimony is compromised as the two had dispute about $25 K debt.
Most Human rights activists were also critical about the quality of the investigation while defense lawyers say prosecutors consistently produce shoddily crafted cases against suspects, thus leading to jury acquittals. In May 2006, a jury acquitted two Chechen men, Kazbek Dukuzov and Musa Vakhayev, in the 2004 murder of U.S. journalist Paul Klebnikov in Moscow http://www.xmail.net/technologos/Aforbes.html
