WHO – World Health Organization director-general Dr. Margaret Chan raised the pandemic threat awareness level from 5 to ultimate 6, meaning the world is at imminent risk of a pandemic from H1N1 swine flu which outbreak originated in Mexico and created justified pandemic fear in Europe and the world while WHO flu director Dr. Keiji Fukuda said evidence suggests the spread of human cases of swine flu is continuing and is not likely to slow.
Margaret Chan now is thinking to raise it to flu pandemic level – Chan to El Paso :”Level 6 does not mean, in any way, that we are facing the end of the world,” Chan said in the interview published on Monday. “It is important to make this clear because we when we announce Level 6 it will cause an unnecessary panic…The world is moving into the early days of its first influenza pandemic in the 21st century,” Chan said in Geneva.

NB Apocalyptic pandemonia predictions years ago by the academician Dmitry Lvov, dir of the Ivanovsky Research Institute of Virology at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Lvov said the pandemic virus could strike at any moment, and would most likely come from China, leading to tens of millions of human deaths, or one third of the global population. He added quarantine measures could delay the pandemic for a few days but not prevent it, and that vaccination would not stop people getting sick.
The scientist said that any pandemic was based on a hybridization of the bird and human viruses. : “Since H5N1 virus mutations never stop, the virus could eventually ‘learn’ to hit the upper parts of humans’ respiratory tract. This would be very bad, but in the worst scenario bird and flu viruses will infect the same recipient, for example a pig, whose organism is susceptible to both viruses. There is one chance in a million of that, but this one chance could result in a global catastrophe that would claim millions of lives.”
“The scale of danger is huge. Any country will be completely defenseless against the disease, because quarantines will not help, as the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-1919 showed,”
Pigs are the most vulnerable animals in the face of both human and bird viruses, which makes them “an intermediary link between human and bird flu”. Lvov said the bird flu pandemic was irreversible like any other natural cataclysm, and would not stop until the highly pathogenic strain mutates into a less dangerous one.
