Nadya Suleman said one doctor helped her conceive all 14 of her children.
KTLA-TV of Los Angeles on Monday aired video it shot in 2006 of Dr. Michael Kamrava from the clinic treating Suleman and discussing the implantation process.Kamrava is a well-known fertility specialist who pioneered a method for implanting embryos directly into the uterine lining. Dr. Kamrava, director of West Coast Infertility Medical Clinic, Inc., is an internationally recognized leader in the field of in vitro fertilization (IVF). His work, alongside close associates and peers worldwide, has resulted in breakthrough technology that has revolutionized IVF, reducing risks to both the mother and child, and also reducing the costs of IVF. He has developed the “Embryo Implantation” that eliminates tubal pregnancies and prevents embryos from falling of the uterus at time of embryo replacement
Nadya Suleman was pregnant with twins at the time.
During the interview, the expectant mother talked openly about IVF, including how she was skeptical at first.
“I was slightly pessimistic but then I realized, well it worked. But at the same time I was keeping it a little covert, I didn’t tell anyone right away and then it worked, I had my son,” Suleman told.At the time, Dr. Kamrava shared their approach using the so-called “SEED” method of implanting embryos.
“We know exactly where they are, we know they are not going to fall out of the uterus because they are underneath the lining and they are fixed in place. We know that it’s not going to cause a tubal pregnancy,” he said.
Suleman said she didn’t want her six remaining embryos to be destroyed so she asked her doctor to implant them all. She claims she didn’t realize each one would take, but insists the action was “appropriate” given her medical history. A few months after Dr. Michael Kamrava helped Nadya Suleman become pregnant with octuplets, he transferred at least seven embryos to another patient who was in her late 40s and wanted just one baby. Now she’s five months pregnant with quadruplets and hospitalized at Los Angeles but her doctors urged her not to talk to the media because she is already dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and doesn’t need more stress.
